Eclectic Edge Ensemble: Reeling Over Love

If you're looking to make some post-Valentine's Day plans this weekend, look no further than Reeling Over Love, Eclectic Edge Ensemble's campy parody of love in cinema. The piece, which premiered in 2009, has been reworked a bit but still pokes fun at Hollywood's version of amour in comparison to the real thing. The script features the classic "boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back" story, vignettes playing on stereotypes of people in the throes of love, and several duets intended to capture the more sincere side of affection. "We are working to balance the melodramatic satire of how love is often presented in the movies with how love can truly make someone feel," says EEE dancer and press coordinator Erinn Liebhard. The show, choreographed by Karis Sloss, is accompanied by an original score by local composers Josh Kramer and Brian Erickson, who will be performing live. (Photo by Dan Sheldon Photography)
