Soo Visual Arts Center's latest exhibition, "New Museal," features work from Jehra Patrick, an artist who takes inspiration from New Institutionalism, a theory that examines institutions through a sociological lens. The local talent, who is also project coordinator for mnartists.org, finds her subjects by sifting through museum archives in search of images that capture lesser-known events and voices. The results of these searches are paintings and prints that go behind the scenes of places of business, while also elevating simple snapshots of hallways and waiting room chairs to something provocative and discussion-prompting. The opening reception is from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, February 11.
