Brendon Walsh has the beard of a hobo and the knowing grin of a confidence man pitching bottled Cure-All. Either way he seems destined to drift through your town for a weekend and leave with some of your money, so it's just as well for us his snake-oil pitch is beguiling, smartly observed comedy delivered without pretension or affect. Walsh, a Philadelphia native, got his start in standup in Texas, winning the Funniest Person in Austin contest in 2004, and in 2008 was invited to perform at the prestigious New Faces showcase at the Montreal Comedy Festival. He's appeared on Conan, Last Comic Standing, and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and is a regular contributor to World's Dumbest on TruTV. He's also an inveterate practical joker whose most notorious gags include covertly adding an image of himself to a Top Chef billboard outside Hollywood and using a fake banner to trick a Los Angeles-area neighborhood into thinking a Whole Foods was opening locally, sparking faux controversy among California foodies. That spirit of mischief runs throughout his act, which is self-aware but never solipsistic, attuned to alt-comedy sensibilities but still punchline-driven. (Photo by Robyn Von Swank)
