More About

The Jungle Theater founder Bain Boehlke is set to return to the stage with the thriller Dial M for Murder, Frederick Knotts's 1952 play that Alfred Hitchcock adapted into his famed film. It's certainly not the first time the theater has delved into mysteries, or Hitchcock for that matter, as the company previously presented Hitchcock Blonde, a mystery about the director himself, several seasons ago. Like a juicy novel, Dial M for Murder is perfect midwinter fare. Playwright Knotts certainly knew his way around the genre, having also created the classic Wait Until Dark. A sumptuous London apartment (also designed by Boehlke) serves as the setting. Ex-tennis star Tony (Michael Booth, previously at the Jungle in Blithe Spirit and The Glass Menagerie) wants his wife's money (played by Cheryl Willis, the star of last year's Shirley Valentine), so he plans the perfect murder—which, of course, goes completely wrong. Can the police, played by local stage veterans Peter Moore and Gary Briggle, solve the case before an innocent woman is sent to the gallows? (Image by Drew Trampe)
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m.; Tuesdays-Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 3. Continues through March 18, 2012
