Those of us lucky enough to have seen Marciano Silva dos Santos's explosive performances with TU Dance look forward eagerly to what this Brazilian native will do on his own. His new company will premiere a work entitled "Motirô," based on the indigenous Brazilian word meaning "a meeting of people to build something together, helping one another along the way." A cumbersome phrase, perhaps, for a dance that explores the vibrant intersections of Afro-Brazilian dance with the martial art form capoeira and contemporary dance. (Photo by Dwayne Williams)
