Cliché's annual fashion show Avoid the Grey will have a different feel this year as the event transitions from a traditional runway show to a fashionable peep show. Delayna Sundberg, who co-owns Cliché with her husband Joshua, says that they were looking to try something new this year, and wanted to do something that would show audiences the thought process behind the creation of a collection. "Avoid the Grey has been a great shot-in-the-arm for spring, but customers weren't ready to buy items for spring yet," Sundberg says. "Local designers would bring in new pieces, but they would sit on the floor for quite a while. We thought, 'What if each designer made just one outfit and shared their inspiration for their collection?'" Participating fashion and accessories designers were paired with local artists who created eight-by-eight-foot boxes with small peep holes. Each designer then put together a display in the box that represents their design process and the inspiration for their spring collection. Instead of watching a runway show, people can peer through the peep holes to get a glimpse into the designer's world. "This will offer a good way to see the thought process that goes into design," Sundberg says. "Each designer is creating something more dramatic than the ready-to-wear looks that you would typically see on the runway." The evening has been split into two segments, and people are encouraged to stay and get inspired by both sets. Featured designers include Carmichael Claith, Gina Marie Vintage, Amanda Christine Designs, kjurek couture, Danielle Everine, and Needle & Black. Tickets are available at Cliche.
