More About

Over the past four decades, L.A.'s Comedy Store has been widely credited as ground zero for the growth of standup. And while this may be a debatable point, what's certain is that the Twin Cities area is lucky to have venues in town that attract so much talent from the vaunted club. Ari Shaffir's upcoming appearance at Rick Bronson's House of Comedy exemplifies this pattern, as the Maryland-born comedian is a regular at Mitzi Shore's Hollywood institution. He can often be found performing there, occasionally getting smacked down (satirically) by former wrestling star and fellow regular Rowdy Roddy Piper. His television credits include TBS's Minding the Store and HBO's Down and Dirty, as well as scads of blue-chip commercial work that he's "whored himself in over the years." Shaffir enjoyed a flash of internet stardom with his short-film series The Amazing Racist for National Lampoon's reality television send-up Lost Reality. Shaffir currently hosts the Skeptic Tank podcast, where his thoughtful hilarity has space to meander. Onstage, Shaffir is unabashedly aggressive and raw, but is able to soften the raunchier aspects of his act by virtue of his friendly stoner sensibility and general likability. 18+; 21+ later shows
