Without doubt, Bon Iver took over last year's music scene in a big way. In 2011, the Wisconsin-based group scored spots on countless best-of lists and toured throughout the world. Now, with the help of artists Isaac Gale and David Jensen, the band will cross over into art in a multimedia installation. For "This Is Not a Place" Gale, who is a mainstay in the music scene as both a video artist and musician, teamed up with Jensen, an emerging artist, for a collaboration showcasing the ethereal nature of the Wisconsin wilderness. The exhibit features film, sculpture, and photography that was inspired by the woods near Justin Vernon's studio. The duo's project, which has evolved from a set of videos into a fully realized gallery installation, promises to be a must-see experience. The opening reception is from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, January 12.
