Considering the raucous nature of typical New Year's Eve revelries, it's hard to fault those parents who elect to ring in the occasion from the humdrum comfort of their own sofas, watching the televised party in Times Square while fighting off the fatigue that has no doubt already claimed the rest of the family. Parents seeking an alternative to such monotony, but unwilling to abandon their children for the night, would do well to check out Baby New Year's Time Traveling Diaper Party. Produced by Comedy Suitcase, the collaborative team of Joshua English Scrimshaw and Levi Weinhagen, this event showcases the specialized blend of slapstick high jinks, wacky wordplay, and heartfelt sentiment that has made the humorists a preferred choice for family-friendly hysterics. With a cast of Suitcase regulars, the variety show will welcome such popular characters from past productions as the Harty Boys, Mario and Luigi, and the Smothers Brothers Grimm. Spoofs are merely the start of this lighthearted romp that should have the kids giggling even as the adults exchange knowing grins. And for those whose energy won't hold out for the midnight hour, the early showtimes allow the chance to properly ring in the New Year and still get the kids to bed before the big ball drops.
