Tonight, the Red Stag will screen not one, but three films as part of its new film night. Each short piece was originally created as part of Cinema Revolution's Minneapolis Project 2010, a yearly festival exploring dance through experimentation with cinema. The works are the creative output of versatile performance artist Jaime Carrera and filmmaker Tyler Jensen, and examine the lives of folks living in different areas of the Twin Cities. Dischord features a musician (Chris Tures of folk group Aldine) who is conflicted as he struggles to make it as an artist. Parade follows a woman (dancer Kimberly Lesik) as she completes mundane tasks after the realization that her husband is having an affair. And Passing explores societal perceptions through the experiences of a male-indentified character (multimedia artist Sinan Goknur). The films' soundtracks are local as well, and include bands such as Dark Dark Dark and Coach Said Not To. At the screening, Aldine will play a live set. (Parade, by Jaime Carrera)
Wed., Dec. 21, 10 p.m., 2011
