When you're in the mood for a scary movie, there are three things to look for: homicidal puppets, psychics, and Egyptian curses. No, not really. But those are the spooky elements at work in Puppet Master (1989), a direct-to-video hit that went on to become a cult classic, spawning eight sequels. The movie stars four nobodies as psychics who are terrorized by a former colleague. How does he terrorize them? By sending a bunch of tiny evil puppets, animated through use of an ancient Egyptian spell, out to get them. These murderous creatures have a variety of unique traits, including spinning-drill body parts and the ability to spew deadly leeches. What follows is a magical killing spree, complete with excessive amounts of blood and tons of screaming reaction shots. At 8 p.m. the bar will be offering two-for-one drink specials, which should make this viewing all the more awesome. Modern Radio will spin tunes afterward, just in case you need to dance the terror out of your system.
