Did you know that Minneapolis is home to one of the friendliest and most helpful women-owned sex shops in the nation? Smitten Kitten, a sponsor of Dan Savage's Savage Lovecast, is located right in the heart of the Lyn-Lake neighborhood, and has been serving Minnesota (and the world via its website) since 2003. But not only does the company strive to bring you the best adult toys and free, sex-positive education, the staff also cares about art. Art about sex, that is. This Thursday marks the beginning of the boutique's annual "Art Sex" exhibit, when the walls are stripped of their typical retail regalia and instead display works interpreting sex by local artists in the medium of their choice. Painter Marc Debauch, photographer Vincent Marcinelli, and sculptors Dustin Skarda and Swink Daddy will be among those demonstrating their artistic valor. Additionally, the show will feature boutique toys, including locally made silicone items and restraints constructed of the finest, softest cashmere. Apart from sexy art, light snacks and beverages are on the menu, as well as the opportunity to mingle with others who share your artistic interests and curiosities. To top off the evening, two members of local R&B jazz band Alicia Steele & the Endeavors will provide music.
