Now that we're past Thanksgiving, it's time to shop for Christmas. Thankfully, there are plenty of opportunities to do so without entering a mall. As an added bonus, this holiday open house at the Germanic-American Institute even comes with all the amenities of a party. In addition to vendors selling unique German Christmas gift items, folks will be able to pick up info on various local arts and culture groups, take house tours, and listen to live music from the Volksfest Singers. Kids will enjoy spending time with St. Nikolaus, viewing a model train display, and getting creative with some holiday craft activities. If you get hungry, order up some grilled bratwurst, snack on gingerbread, or indulge in some Glühwein, a traditional warm wine served in Germany during the holidays.
