The Film Society of Minneapolis/St. Paul goes deep into Latin film culture with its first-ever festival of films from Central and South America, the U.S., Spain, Mexico, and Portugal. The festival will include more than 30 features and documentaries, several of them presented by the international filmmakers. Among the directors attending will be Trisha Ziff, who made the well-received documentary The Mexican Suitcase, which follows the fascinating search for three boxes (collectively known as the Mexican Suitcase) that contained priceless negatives from three legendary photographers who had documented the Spanish Civil War. The boxes, lost during World War II, were finally found in 2007. Visit www.mspfilmfest.org for a complete list of films and showtimes.
