Comedian Patrick Keane has "been all 'round this great big world," as the Beach Boys once sang. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he moved to Los Angeles when he was 11. Next, he attended college in Helena, Montana, on a football scholarship before heading to Japan as part of a student exchange program. "I wish I hadn't been good at football," he muses. "Then I could have started on this other part of my life." Montana turned out to be quite interesting for Keane. "Going from Los Angeles to Montana was a bigger culture shock than going from Montana to Japan," he says. After graduating from college, he tried his hand at teaching and then had a go in the shipping business. "I failed at everything," he notes. Standup offered the chance to fulfill his lifelong dream of working in show business. "I knew an office job wasn't for me. At an early age I knew I wanted to be in the entertainment business, whether it was writing or working in front of the camera." Standup seemed to be the easiest entry point. "You can get up right now and do it," he says. "It's not like music where you have to learn an instrument or theater where you have to take acting classes. You just have to be able to speak English." 18+.
