If you feel like Anton Chekhov on his deathbed and "haven't had champagne for a long time," then perhaps this Saturday you can change that by attending the Loft's annual Dead Writers Party. At the event, taking place at Kieran's Irish Pub, you'll be in the good company of esoteric spirits like James Joyce, William Butler Yeats, and George Bernard Shaw. Party-goers are encouraged to dress as their favorite dead writer, and there is no limit to how many ladies may dress up as Sylvia Plath (but please don't forget about the likes of Flannery O'Connor, Stevie Smith, and Dorothy Parker). In addition to looking the part, attendees who feel inspired to read a selected work from the literary catalog of their chosen dead author are urged to do so. Please do keep in mind that this is a child-friendly event, so save your Marquis De Sade costumes for your neighbor's party, and do your best not to channel Dylan Thomas, as 18 whiskey shots is too many.
