This fresh young company presents a provocative double bill that includes a modern masterpiece and a new ballet that has been compared to the grotesque paintings of Hieronymous Bosch. Kenneth MacMillan's "Song of the Earth" captures the poetic essence of Mahler's poignant score, and has been described as "one of the most sublime marriages of music and choreography in the ballet canon." And then for something completely different, for "Kings 2 Ends" Finnish choreographer Jorma Elo threads music by Steve Reich and Mozart with speedy, neo-classical moves, flashes of jazz, and what one reviewer calls the "R&B diva-strut." New to Twin Cities audiences, the Scottish Ballet seems like a company up for just about anything. (Photo by Graham Wylie)
