Some may say that 1968 was not a good year. It was, however, an important one, marked by protest riots at home, a rising death toll in Vietnam, and the assassinations of both Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy. But it was also a time when Civil Rights movements—including women's liberation and black power—gained increasing influence. The first images of Earth from outer space were also snapped that year. This tumultuous time, and its lasting impact, will be explored in the Minnesota History Center's latest project, "1968 Exhibit." Using interactive multimedia installations and online additions, the show will allow visitors, both online and in person, to examine then and now. The opening party for the exhibit should be an era-appropriate, smashing good time, and will include trivia, music, a cash bar, fondue demonstrations, and a screening of Minnesota-made film shorts inspired by the year.
