In an attempt to save the day for small book events, local literary guilds have teamed up with a promotion called the Twin Cities LitPunch. People who attend the special, free events, as noted on the LitPunch website and the RainTaxi calendar, are eligible for a notch on their card. Full cards can be traded for credit at local shops—including Magers & Quinn, Common Good Books, and Micawber's—toward books and the chance to win prizes. Although the promotion was unveiled last month, the coming-out party will take place this Wednesday at Club Jager, a bar that has previously hosted a few lit-related events, including the occasional literary "tweet-up." The campaign was created by a brain trust populated by representatives of the Loft Literary Center and Rain Taxi, as well as Graywolf, Milkweed, and Coffee House presses, and this is a great chance to hobnob, discuss favorite works of the season, and get your first LitPunch card.
