A Prairie Home Companion

If A Prairie Home Companion were comfort food, it would be leftover meatloaf with an extra helping of mashed potatoes. Serve that up on a stick, and you've got a pretty fun Minnesota State Fair concert. Later this month Garrison Keillor will kick off the 38th season of his beloved radio show with its annual street-dance celebration, but first he will stop at the Minnesota State Fair with tales of Lake Wobegon so comforting you won't even need the extra starch to feel warm and fuzzy. Alt-country band the Jayhawks are planning on stopping by to perform, as is musician Sara Watkins, actress Sue Scott, and Tim Russell, the man with the rubber voice. Show regulars Guy's All-Star Shoe Band and sound-effects masterminds Tom Keith and Fred Newman will further add to the pleasantries of the evening. (Photo by Velenchenko)
