The St. Paul Soap Boxing Slam Team plans to get a little sloppy with a new slam concept at this month's Cirque De So'Drunk Poetry Slam. They will perform alongside anyone else who wants to sign up, and team member Shane Hawley will host. After winning the National Poetry Slam two years in a row, the group should be very comfortable on their home turf. However, non-members may have a slight advantage: According to the rules, the team must consume every drink that the audience buys for them. Other drinking games and boozy shenanigans will ensue as well. But other than the team's guaranteed intoxication, there are no other rules or themes. Don't worry, they didn't forget about the audience; there will be drink specials and toasting throughout the evening. The slam is open to anyone 18 or older, and poets will have three rounds to duke it out. The team might even get a little weepy as they recently bid adieu to Matthew Rucker, Soap Boxing's founder, organizer, and SlamMaster. Rucker retired to devote more time to his growing career as an artist.M
