Best summer film events in the Twin Cities

THE 48-HOUR FILM PROJECT. Earlier this month, a group of adventurous Minnesota filmmakers was given 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit short films in a randomly decided genre and incorporating a specific character, prop, and line of dialogue. SUMMER MUSIC & MOVIES. The Walker Art Center revives its hugely popular summer entertainment series in Loring Park (August 1-15) and the Walker Open Field (August 22). The Monday-evening events are free and will showcase bands from the Twin Cities' diverse music scene, followed by an outdoor movie. This year's movie fest borrows its theme from the Walker exhibit "Exposed: Voyeurism, Surveillance, and the Camera Since 1870." Music begins at 7 p.m., with films at dusk.
