If you grew up being referred to as "more of an indoor kid," then the best part of springtime for you may be the Midwest Comic Book Association's annual SpringCon. This event is always filled to the brim with sweet comic-book finds, authors, illustrators, and golden opportunities for people-watching. Tons of comics and collectibles dealers come from all over the Midwest to dish out special deals and sell one-of-a-kind merchandise. The Star Wars 501st Central Garrison—a group of live-action role-players united by a love of Star Wars—will provide security detail (and awesome photo ops) throughout the event. SpringCon goes all weekend long, with different guests and happenings each day. Some say that the best approach to buying comics at conventions is to go late on the last day in order to get the cheapest deals. However, if you have a list of books and toys to buy it's probably wise to go early. For more info, visit www.midwestcomicbook.com.
