LEGOs have come a long way from their beginnings in 1930s Denmark. With a name that drew from the Danish phrase leg godt ("play well"), the ubiquitous toys have of late captured the imagination of everyone from Fergie to Italian designer Mariasole Cecchi. The former wore a LEGO-built dress at the 2011 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards and the latter recently released a line of high-end purses decorated with LEGOs. To fan the creative aspirations of kids of all ages, LEGO has its own road show, with a stop in Minneapolis this weekend. Among the lineup of activities: a LEGO Model Gallery, featuring 40 life-sized models made from LEGO bricks; Creation Nation, where participants add to a custom map of the U.S.; and a race ramp to build and race your own custom car.
