Comedian Paul F. Tompkins has been a staple of the alt-humor circuit for nearly 20 years. During that time he's flexed his laugh-inducing muscles in everything from sketch comedy (he was a supporting cast member on HBO's beloved '90s cult classic Mr. Show) to pop-culture punditry (as host of VH1's Best Week Ever) to off-kilter advertisements (that's Tompkins supplying the voice of lascivious spokespuppet Doug in a new line of hilarious Ford Focus commercials). However, no matter how many different giggle-prodding endeavors Tompkins pursues, his true calling remains on the stage. Tompkins's one-of-a-kind standup material never fails to reap big laughs, from the combination of his understated delivery to his willingness to explore decidedly unconventional and dark personal material—much of his uproariously funny 2010 Comedy Central special You Should Have Told Me centered on the death of his mother. 21+.
