Cult Sisters II

This group show celebrates 12 female creative types who collectively carry quite a rep on the Twin Cities art scene. For example, artist J.M. Culver explores dark memories and human emotion with her large-scale pieces, and was recently been featured on MNOriginal. Lowbrow artist Louisa Greenstock often exhibits in bars and nightclubs, which is fitting as her portrait subjects often include hard-living rock stars and pop-culture icons. Tonya Torgerson explores the often poisonous ideology fed to women through the media and day-to-day living. The work of Cult Status curator Erin Sayer celebrates fame spanning eras. And while all of the exhibiting artists for this show are women, it's not their gender that is the common thread, but rather their sheer talent and general awesomeness. The opening reception is from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, May 14, and features music by DJ Shiek. There will also be a closing reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, June 17. (Fed, by Tonya Torgerson)
