Red or green salsa? ¿Salsa roja o salsa verde? Both—of course. In St. Paul, the Mexican-American holiday Cinco de Mayo, a.k.a. the "Fifth of May," means a two-day festival with live music and delicious street food. During the celebration, a six-block area of District del Sol will host a community wellness village, cinco sports zone, and a children's area with a petting zoo. At the lowrider car show, vehicles are riding low and dirty, souped up to change height and perform stunts. This year's fest also includes a jalapeño-eating contest (watch it if you can stomach it), and a people's choice salsa-tasting contest, which all can enjoy. The annual Fiesta Parade showcases Mexican dancers and performers, plus floats from event sponsors and the local community. Minnesota's spiciest celebration is hosted by Riverview Economic Development Association (REDA) and benefits the West Side. There will be ambas salsa verde y roja. Enjoy.
