Zenon Dance Company’s 28th Spring Season

Zenon's spring concert covers the stylistic map. Titles of premieres like "My Quarreling Heart" by New York phenom Kyle Abraham and "My Empty Mouth" by Wynn Fricke, a choreographer known for her visceral spirituality, seem indicative of both the range and depth that this multitalented company offers up. A recent rehearsal of Abraham's furious and provocative new piece showed dancers working at maximum force and speed, code-crackers whose bodies seemed to be deciphering some very scary impulses. At the other end of the spectrum is a remount of Danny Buraczeski's terrific "Elegant Echoes," where dancers snake through some funky Jelly Roll Morton songs with the swing and glide, the punch and sass indicative of Morton's New Orleans-style jazz. Also on deck is a premiere by the endlessly inventive Uri Sands and a remount of Sydney Skybetter's "The Laws of Falling Bodies." (Photo by William Cameron)
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: April 22. Continues through May 1, 2011
