Così Fan Tutte

The Dead Composers Society continues its mission to re-think opera in the new production of Mozart's Così Fan Tutte. Promising a hipper take on classical works, the company presents the opera sans fat lady and sans helmets with horns. At the heart of the story are two young men, Guglielmo and Ferrando (played by Ben Henry-Moreland and John de Causmeaker), who are convinced by their friend Don Alfonso (Scott Sandersfeld) to test their fiancées' fidelity by tricking them. The original libretto, written by Lorenzo Da Ponte, is sung in English, and this updated production has a surprise ending. Featuring the lovely Meridith Cain-Nielsen and Kristin Newbegin as the fiancées, as well as Sarah Gibson as the maid who is smarter than everyone, the show is directed by Robert Neu in his third DCS production, with musical direction by Jana Hachett. The opening night performance on Friday will be followed by a potluck, where attendees are encouraged to bring refrigerator-friendly finger foods to share.
