It's not often someone gets an instant, unsolicited endorsement while being interviewed by City Pages, but comedian Ryan Hamilton did. "Hey, I'm sorry to interrupt," says fellow comic Orny Adams (Comedian, Funny People), grabbing his friend's cell phone. "Ryan and I are walking around the mall, and I just wanted to say if you want to see good comedy done right, go see Ryan. He's a great comic." Hamilton grew up in Idaho, and though he always loved comedy, he had no burning desire to pursue standup until he was about to graduate from Brigham Young University. "I started college studying journalism," he explains. "I was going to be a news broadcaster, and then about halfway through my college career, I decided that was too risky and switched to public relations. About a year after that I had an opportunity to do comedy full-time." Onstage, he talks about what is going on in his life as an Idaho native living in New York, dating, and, as Adams assures us, "a great bit about parachuting." Hamilton says his set has an educational aspect as well. "I want people to have fun, and I think they walk away from the show learning a little bit about me." 18+.
