Over the past 45 years plenty of big-voiced actors (from Richard Kiley to Raul Julia to Robert Goulet) have "dreamed the impossible dream" in Man of La Mancha, but Ten Thousand Things' new production promises a different take on this interpretation of the Don Quixote tale. Former Theatre de la Jeune Lune stalwart Steven Epp stars as both Quixote and the story's author, Cervantes. Luverne Seifert—another Jeune Lune regular who has also appeared on stages across the Twin Cities—plays loyal companion Sancho, and Regina Marie Williams takes on the role of Aldonza. The rest of the company is made up of just three actors: Matt Guidry, Tracey Maloney, and T. Mychael Rambo. This minimalist approach worked wonders last year when the company stripped My Fair Lady to its bare bones, and director Michelle Hensley has been on a remarkable streak over the last two years.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 4 p.m. Starts: April 15. Continues through April 24, 2011
