Is your Singer sewing machine collecting dust? Do you have a project you've been itching to carry out, but can't find the right fabric for your smashing idea? This weekend, thrifty folks who know how to get creative with a sewing needle will descend on the Textile Center's annual textile garage sale, the largest of its kind in the world (and maybe the universe?). Here, people will find patterns, tools, machines, yarn, books, buttons, and yards of fabric in every style and color for creating something you will love to wear (or be proud to gift). The weekend event kicks off on Friday; guests will be able to take a first look at items for sale while listening to live music and enjoying refreshments. Saturday is when things really get busy, with the last two hours of the event featuring the best deals: From 3 to 5 p.m. people will pay $1 for all the items that can fit into the provided brown paper bags.
