Chris Bliss, Josh Weinstein

Though they will perform together onstage at Acme, Chris Bliss and Josh Weinstein are not a comedy duo. "We walk out together," explains Bliss, "and spend the next 90 minutes together commenting on each other's material." This annual one-off show is borne of a friendship that blossomed years ago when the two were booked on a small tour of clubs in Wisconsin. Bliss, then 36, and Weinstein, then 18, quickly became close friends. Bliss, who began his showbiz career as a juggler, and Weinstein, a former writer for Mystery Science Theater 3000, found their personal and comedic sensibilities really complimented each other's. "I don't think anybody else does anything like it per se," Bliss says. "We're not doing improv, we just really enjoy the art of standup and enjoy one another, and the audience becomes a part of that. In the end there are closing pieces galore." Bliss juggles for his finale, Weinstein does a final bit, and then they do one together. Only comedy fans in the Twin Cities can see this unique presentation as both comedians are busy with other projects throughout the year. Weinstein tours as part of Cinematic Titanic. Bliss continues to devote time to the nonprofit Bill of Rights Monument Project. 18+. (Pictured: Chris Bliss)
