More About

If you want to see Rogue Citizen's new show, "Execute Rogue Citizen," at Gallery 13, your best bet is to get your tail over there this month. On Friday, April 1, all of the works will be "executed" in order to acknowledge "the way our system benefits only those who can afford to purchase freedom." During the show, the gallery space will be divided into three cellblocks; artwork will focus on the American justice and prison systems, sentencing, and capital punishment. Rogue Citizen, a live painting crew and exhibiting artist group that formed in 2009, is composed of Shawn Dalsen, Eric Mattheis, Matt McGorry, and Matt Wells. Employing social critique and satire, and utilizing a variety of mediums including mixed media, street art-inspired paintings, and intricate drawings, the show promises to be violent, darkly humorous, and political. It's an exhibition not to be missed. The opening reception features live painting by the crew and music by Ostraka from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 18. The closing reception from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, will feature live music by Seawhores and the "execution" (destruction) of the ramaining, unsold art on display.
