The younger of the Twin Cities' two big parades (by a mere three years), the Minneapolis march began as more of a pub crawl. It featured one float and some Minnesota Vikings on motorcycles as they celebrated between Duff's Bar and Bradford's Pub. Forty-two years later, the parade is going stronger than ever. Get there early to enjoy special happy hours and performances at the various pubs on Nicollet Mall; some even offer parade views from indoors. And after the last float passes by, the partying will really begin. Be sure to plan your night carefully; while MetroTransit will be offering free bus rise from 6 p.m. until its last scheduled route, many rides fill to capacity quickly. The parade route starts at 13th Street and goes down Nicollet Mall to Fifth Street. For more info, call 763.234.7111 or visit www.mplsstpats.org. (Photo by Ivan Walsh)
