Selections from Ana Voog's Anacam

Ever wanted to peer into someone else's life and take an intimate look at their daily routines, quirks, and desires? Minneapolis artist, musician, and writer Ana Voog capitalizes on society's fascination with personal spaces and performance art with her longtime internet sensation, Anacam. Voog started Anacam in 1997 as an interactive webcam project where she gave subscribers a firsthand look at her life as an artist 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It was one of the oldest of its kind on the web, and subscribers could see a new picture of Voog in her home every five minutes. Voog discontinued her webcam in 2009, but was left with thousands of images from the previous 12 years. The Smitten Kitten will be exhibiting many of these moments. Though Voog is local, her work has been featured nationally by the Museum of Modern Art and in Newsweek, Playboy, E!, and USA Today. The opening reception is from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
