Catch Paul Mecurio while you can. The Wall Street lawyer turned standup comic has three TV shows in development, yet still has time to hit the road. "And I am saving babies from wolves," he adds. "I've been doing that." An avid sports fan, Mecurio likes to talk about the subject when he comes to big sports markets like the Twin Cities. "Brett Favre was great fodder for me when he was there, but there's always something going on, even with the Yankees. Did you hear about the Derek Jeter situation? [Yankees owner Hank] Steinbrenner was bitching about him building a mansion. Really? Have you seen the place you guys built?" Mecurio is also becoming skeptical of global warming, even as his wife installs energy efficient bulbs in their home. "They're efficient in saving energy, but inefficient in our lives because they take five minutes to warm up. You walk into a room and stand there in the dark and think, 'Man, I hope I can get through these next few minutes without killing someone.'" He claims he's become a bit of an activist. "I now break into people's houses and turn on the lights. If you get home, the iron is on, and you didn't leave it plugged in, I broke in and plugged it in. That's all I do now." 18+; 21+ later shows.
