Brian Posehn

Brian Posehn is a geek of all trades. His filmography includes nods to the horror geek (The Devil's Rejects), animation geek (voices for Tom Goes to the Mayor, Aqua Teen Hunger Force), metal geek (Metalocalypse), and comedy geek (Mr. Show, The Sarah Silverman Program, Human Giant)—which only accounts for a small portion of his lengthy filmography. But among standup fanatics he's most closely identified with the 2005 documentary The Comedians of Comedy, about a quartet of offbeat, likeminded comics doing a series of shows in rock venues. The movie spawned a pseudo-sequel and a Comedy Central television series. Posehn was the most relatable among the incredibly talented crew that included the cerebral Zach Galifianakis, the persona-hopping Maria Bamford, and the zany patrician Patton Oswalt. Posehn's approachability is one of his great assets onstage. Don't let it fool you, though; his easygoing demeanor and fondness for the crude and confessional belie the smart, strange twists in his material, delivered in the guise of a gentle stoner giant. He's a comedy Superman posing as Clark Kent. 18+. (Photo by Robin Van Swank)
