Aspen Sante Fe Ballet

While it was recently announced that the Northrop would be closing until 2013 due to a massive revitalization project, this will not stop the University's dance program from bringing in innovative acts from around the world. Its 2011 series continues, albeit at the State Theatre, with a visit from the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. The dance troupe was founded in 1994 by Bebe Schweppe in Aspen, Colorado, but by 2000 the organization had a second home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. One of the largest dance groups in the country, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet also educates locally in its hometowns with its Mexican folk-dance outreach program for youth. Their Minnesota performance features Uneven, a new ballet by Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto. Their most well-known work, Red Sweet by Finnish choreographer Jorma Elo, and Nicolo Fonte's In Hidden Seconds, will also be performed. (Photo by Lois Greenfield)
