The Art of Gastro Non Grata

For the past several years Vincent Stall (a.k.a. King Mini) has been designing posters and promotional materials for Gastro Non Grata, a chef-driven gourmet eating, drinking, and indie-rock extravaganza that happens four times a year, usually at the Triple Rock. Stall, co-owner of Pink Hobo Art Gallery in northeast Minneapolis, will be displaying some of his best promo designs along with musician/photographer Greg Schaal's photography of past GNG parties. Stall says that the event's fusion of local creative foods with rocking music and microbrews exposes people to fine dining because it's "comfortable food done really well." Pink Hobo has a similar lack of pretension, hosting shows that are playful and often under the radar. "We don't try to compete with the regular gallery system," says Stall. In addition to Schaal's photographs and King Mini's posters, other work in the show will include "collaterals" from past GNG shows including records, aprons, belt buckles, and test prints of posters. At the opening reception, which is from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, February 25, there will be food, drink, and music, and Fork in the Road food truck will be parked out back for some extra treats.
