During last summer's exhibition "The Art of Conflict," which was initiated by the Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project, visceral works by Minneapolis artist Jane Powers and Jim Boden of South Carolina were hung alongside wrenching paintings by Iraqi artists Ali Ghassa and Ali Moshin. The show's intent was for contributors to freely express their feelings about the war in Iraq. The exhibition also generated dialogue between art and observers, raising the question: What's next? The answer is "Navigating the Aftermath," a sequel that aims to probe even deeper into the ongoing war and its impact. Fourteen artists from around the U.S. (including some veterans) and Iraq investigate silence and outrage, trauma and healing, history and peace in works ranging from installations to photography to book arts. During the opening, out-of-town contributors, including the Iraqi artists, will participate via Skype. The opening reception is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 18; Iraqi music and artists' talk 6 p.m. Friday, February 25; panel talk 7 p.m. Friday, March 4. (Aaron McLeod, 3 Fils)
