There will always be something exciting about the unpredictability of live television. But thanks to taped segments and the 10-second delay, live news, sports, and entertainment on TV is becoming increasingly rare. For this installment of the History of Hip series, Tom Oszman and Jack Stahlmann from TCMedianow.com will screen a blooper reel of some of the most hilarious moments when local news shows went off the rails. In addition to television blunders, the two will also show rare clips, silly news sketches, and old-school commercials from the '70s and '80s. Together they will discuss this bygone era—a time when local affiliates owned the airwaves—reflecting on the careers of newscasters including Stan Turner and Don Shelby. Fans of the talks can purchase snacks and drinks beforehand at the center's café. 21+. Call 651.259.3015 or register online at tickets.mnhs.org.
