Distortion: U of M Senior Fashion Show

College seniors around the state still have a few months left to tighten up their résumés and portfolios in preparation for the real world. But this weekend, 18 emerging fashion designers at the University of Minnesota are getting a head start on their classmates by unveiling their student collections for a crowd of local industry elite at the 43rd Annual Senior Fashion Show. A local runway-event favorite deeply ingrained in the tradition of highlighting talented students, the U of M Senior Fashion Show features fresh, creative, and polished designs from emerging artists—some of whom are already well on their way to becoming the next big thing. With a wide range of personal styles and inspirations, designers are slated to showcase men's and women's high fashion and ready-to-wear collections made with intricate textiles, some hand-dyed and screen-printed. Local jewelry designer and former news anchor Robyne Robinson will host the highly anticipated on-campus event, with a pre-runway exhibit from the junior class to kick off the evening. The annual show tends to attract a sell-out crowd of local fashion insiders, students, and faculty, so don't wait to buy tickets at the door or you may never get to say "I saw them when...."
