Titian and the Golden Age of Venetian Painting: Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland

Unless you're planning on traveling to Scotland, you won't want to miss this opportunity to see the National Galleries of Scotland's collection of Venetian paintings. Featuring several works by the famed Renaissance artist Titian, this display highlights some of Italy's finest artists, including Lorenzo Lotto, Jacopo Tintoretto, Jacopo Bassano, and Giovanni Cariani, among others. The exhibit boasts exquisite pieces, like Titian's celebrated paintings Diana and Actaeon, Diana and Callisto, and Venus Rising from the Sea. Here you'll be able to experience the illustrious and poetic nature of the Renaissance through classical imagery that exudes beauty and demonstrates impressive form and skill with each brush stroke. Join the museum in welcoming the exhibit at Bella Naughty, a celebratory gala where black tie attire and traditional Venetian masks will rule the evening. The event's title is a witty play on the Italian phrase "bella notte" and promises a night inspired by the historic romance and mystery of the canal-filled city Venice. Even if you can't make it to the ball, be sure to catch the radiance and splendor of these Italian treasures later. The museum also has a companion exhibit, "Venice on Paper," which showcases the best in Renaissance drawings and illustrations by Venetian artists. Bella Naughty costs $45 and runs from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday, February 5.
