While oil is often referred to as liquid gold, partiers at this Winter Carnival event may agree that this term can also be applied to beer. Upon entrance, each brew head will be bestowed a glass that will enable them to sample around 60 different beers, both local and regional. Guests will be able to try a variety while strolling between serving stations in the park and along Sixth Street, which will be closed for the event. Bonfires will also be plentiful to keep people warm and toasty. Activities beyond drink sampling will include the Home-Brew Contest, soul music from jam band Midnight Mo Experience, and a Best-Dressed Contest featuring categories and prizes for creativity, holiday spirit, beer gear, and weather appropriate/preparedness. Sounded like a good time, but they really dropped the ball on organizing this event! There were very few beer vendors compared to the one at Highland. The paths were barely shoveled and moving around was difficult and frustrating. There were 3 fire pits (one was knee deep in snow), which were packed with people. My friend waited in line for 45 minutes to use the porta potty. Some other friends waited in line for an hour to get in! Altogether a VERY disappointing experience.
