Spoken-word series the Riot Act is on for January 16, though there has been a change in venue. When poet and Riot Act founder Paul D. Dickinson heard that the Turf Club would no longer be open on Sunday nights due to a change in management, he quickly made the switch to Nick and Eddie. So the ragtag group of poets and writers will be heading west for the monthly convergence. "I have this amazing lineup of people that were all available on the same date," Dickinson says. "So cancelling was not an option." Indeed, Dickinson has rounded up some of the best Riot Act-ers, with comedian Mary Mack (who has been seen on Last Comic Standing and Comedy Central) on the bill, as well as Keith Hollihan (author of The Four Stages of Cruelty, which was selected by Publisher's Weekly as one of the top books of 2010). Also appearing will be Laura Brandenburg (who co-hosts with Dickinson), Sheryl Ann Hofstra, Geoff Herbach (author of The Miracle Letters of T. Rimberg and Stupid Fast), and, of course, Dickinson himself, the Twin Cities' favorite Punk Poet.
