David Alan Grier is probably best known for his work on the TV show In Living Color. Grier started out as dramatic actor, but after appearing as a semi-regular on the Cosby Show spin-off A Different World, he began taking on more humorous roles. ILC creator Keenan Ivory Wayans, who had cast Grier in the comedy I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, subsequently cast the Detroit native in the groundbreaking sketch program. It was after that show left the air that he began doing standup, which he still does today between acting and other projects. Last fall he released his first book, Barack Like Me. In the role of comedian Grier relates stories from his personal life, as well as observations about society and politics. "Is there such a thing as 'safe sex?'" he asks an audience. "Is everyone practicing safe sex all the time, never miss? I'm convinced that nothing they tell us will make us stop having sex. They already told us if you keep on having sex you're going to die. Even if they said on CNN tomorrow, 'Men of the world: If you keep having sex, your testicles will explode,' one brother would be like, 'Is that one at a time, or both at once? 'Cuz I'll take that chance!'" 18+; 21+ later shows.
