The Flying Karamazov Brothers

These juggling legends didn't invent the mixture of humor and danger bubbling out of West Coast street performance in the 1970s, but they did take it national in the '80s, and so charismatically that it's tough to imagine the Blue Man Group or the shtick peppering Renaissance Festivals without their influence. The "brothers" remain the standard for this kind of entertainment, even with just one original member, juggling while playing each other's musical instruments with different hands, bringing butcher knives and fire into the mid-air mix, and otherwise turning juggling into a combination of body percussion, knife-throwing, improvisational comedy, and dance—like the Marx Brothers making war on gravity.
