More About

If you've had enough holiday cheer, maybe it's time to head back to the office. David Mamet's brilliant examination of the high-pressure working world ushers in 2011 with a production at Torch Theater. Directed by David Mann and featuring seven top Twin Cities actors, the production promises to bring Mamet's tale of a shady and seedy real-estate office to intimate life. Squeezed by the unseen bosses at the top, who threaten to fire anyone not at the peak of his game, the salesmen—from alpha male Ricky Roma to fallen star Shelley Levene—use every trick in the book (including burgling the office to get their hands on the sweet, sweet leads) on their clients and each other to stay afloat in the shark-infested waters of their world. The ensemble features plenty of bright lights from the local community, including Peter Carlin, Patrick Coyle, Jim Detmar, Garry Geiken, Terry Hempelman, Ari Hoptman, and John Middleton. Expect plenty of verbal fireworks from Mamet's incendiary script. (Image by Thomas Sandelands)
