"The big news is I'm headlining Acme for New Year's Eve," says comedian Tracey Ashley. "I'm very excited about it." It's a chance for the cruise director-turned-standup-comedian to change gears. "I've been doing a lot of colleges," she reports. "College kids, they are adults, and it's interesting to see their perspective on the world. It's so different. They still have stars in their eyes, and they still have a lot of hope, which I think is great. The students are smart, and I can take that into the clubs." Onstage she talks about being newly married, though for the college crowd she dials some of that material back. But both audiences get her views on Barack Obama. "It's not Barack Obama," she explains, "it's everyone around him, and the reaction people have to the first African American president. I was on YouTube and I saw a woman say she was afraid that now that Barack Obama has become president, that all of the black people will take over. I've been talking about those fears." It's those college kids who still seem the most optimistic, though. Ashley recently asked an audience of students if a female president would be next. "This young woman yelled out, 'Anything is possible now.' I thought that was very interesting." 18+.
